Describing Locations
Add 'a', 'an', 'the', or ' ' (no article) to the gaps.

On 1. ________ main road to the west of the river, 2. ________ residential area was quite small in 2008. This was expanded with two large apartment buildings, and 3. ________ new road was built to allow for the construction of more housing. Behind this, 4. ________ grass area, which used to have 5. ________ playground, was renovated into 6. ________ new sports facilities with 7. ________ running track and 8. ________ sports field.

On the other side of the river, 9. ________ school was extended and 10. ________ old local shop has been converted into a supermarket with 11. ________ new car park to the south of the building. Next to this, the industrial area was enlarged with
12. ________ new factories. By 2018, the old stage in the park opposite this was removed, and a new playground was built in its place.
