Section 4 / Lesson 5 - How to Organise your Answer

     Below you will find questions to putting together your answer when describing a process on your IELTS Writing Task One. Using the study notes and the class video, you should be able to answer these questions to practice the language, and then be able to use the language in your IELTS writing test. 1. Plan and write an answer to the following question. ​

Give a clear introduction​

​

  • Paraphrase the question

  • Overview (This is a ____-stage, ________ process, where ...)

​

Split the process in two and write two body paragraphs

​

2. Highlight the following in your essay in these colours. 

​

  • Sequencers

  • After present perfect, present simple.

  • Before + Verb...ing 

  • Relative clauses

  • Give purpose (to, for, with the aim of, so that) 

  • Passive voice (if not transitive verbs) and active voice
